Rich retired in December 2013 after 33 years in the United States Army with service on active duty, Wisconsin National Guard and the United States Army Reserves. The high point in his career was the privilege of two combat commands in Iraq and retiring a Full Colonel. Besides the military, he was a professional postal worker for over 32 years, culminating as the Postmaster of Kaukauna Wisconsin. As a postmaster he had always been very much involved with the local communities and enjoyed giving school tours as well as speaking engagements.
Rich’s personal life has always been very active. Rich and his wife ran a successful lake cottage rental business for several years. He is very involved in his church. Rich has coached basketball for 15 years as well as serving on the Board of Education. Rich served as the Chairman and the Chairman Elect for St. Paul Lutheran Bonduel for eight years. When Rich’s son was younger, Rich enjoyed working with the Boy Scouts as Cub Master and as Scout Master.
Today Rich continues to coach basketball and has the privilege of sitting on the Bonduel Bank Corp Board of Directors. He owns and operates a gunsmith business that he runs from a shop on his property in Bonduel, Wisconsin. He loves landscaping his property and enjoys gardening, walking in the woods, golfing, hunting and fishing.
Rich has always been a leader and sought to do what is right even when no one was looking. He has never been content with what was and always sought to improve and innovate. Leadership is not a natural state but a learned skill and he has been an innovator, team builder, and has always sought to include others in projects to make things better, no matter if it was in his civilian profession or in the military.
