Republicans Broken Promise on Heath Care
So the Republicans asked, how do you like me now??
PRESIDENT OBAMA PROMISES MADE: Did you get to keep your health care? Did you get to keep your doctor? Did your premiums go down $2,500 per year? Did your insurance coverage at work remain the same? If you earned under $250 thousand per year did your taxes go down? President Obama said that he would not sign a bill that adds one dime to our national debt, how is that working? Have medical cost increases stopped, or are they still rising? Has Medicare been protected? President Obama said that he would sign a universal health care bill into law that would cover every American, how is that working? Obama promised that the Affordable Health Care Act will mean more choice, more competition and lower costs for millions of Americans, how is that working?
EPIC FAILURE: Led by the Maverick we all know and love, three Republicans voted NO. Senators Susan Collins of Maine, Alysia Murkowski of Alaska, and of course the MAV himself John McCain of Arizona. McCain proudly proclaimed that we three are the untouchables.
THE PROMISE: In 2010 the Tea Party supported Republicans led the way to repeal & replace. Etablishment (SWAMP) Republicans never embraced the Tea Party group. Who are establishment Republicans? I think SWAMP Republicans are the group driving 70 MPH as described by Charles Koch. In a 2015 interview, Charles Koch said that the reason he and his brother tend to support Republicans, is that the Democrats are driving the country towards a financial cliff at 100 MPH and the Republicans are only driving 70 MPH. The Tea Party and more conservative elements wish to slow or reverse course. So the swamp politicians on both sides of the isle fear the Tea Party because, it will end the career politician’s gravy train and might force them to get a job and live like the rest of us.
I LIKE IT: The Republicans promised to repeal. McCain and Lisa Murkowski both promised during their campaign to repeal. Both voted against the straight repeal with a 2 year delay. I hope that nothing more is done on health care until after the 2018 elections. Surprisingly I like the way the vote ended.
America now has the chance to decide if America continues towards the fiscal cliff at 70 to 100 MPH to do we slow down and reverse course. 2018 will be interesting.
